Buffalo Baptist Church
Long history of Buffalo Baptist Church.
Buffalo Baptist Church has been serving their community in Cleveland County for decades from a beautiful and stately Church on a hill. Unfortunately, as is true for many Churches, they had outgrown their property. There was not enough room to enlarge their existing facilities to meet their growing demands. Rather than tear down their history, they opted to build an entirely new Church across the road and preserve their history and cemetery where it had always been.
The new facility.
The new Church building was constructed on an entirely new site and designed to accommodate all the functions of the congregation. The 14,000-square-foot facility features a sanctuary that seats over 400 people, complete with a choir loft and baptistry. It also includes 16 Sunday School classrooms, a dedicated Choir Room, and a well-appointed office suite. A covered drive-through portico is provided as well.
To keep costs manageable, the building’s footprint was intentionally kept simple. Though it may not be immediately apparent, the structure is supported by a pre-engineered steel frame. However, elegant touches—such as beautiful, large stained glass windows and exterior stone veneer accents—give the building a refined and welcoming presence. Inside, the sanctuary boasts soaring vaulted ceilings and thoughtful amenities that disguise the building's utilitarian structure, creating a truly sacred space for worship.
The design/build approach.
This project was designed and built with collaboration between Upland Architects, the Church, and the general contractor, from start to finish. This approach, known as design/build, enables the architect and contractor to collaborate in understanding the cost implications of different designs as the project develops. This eliminates the need to wait for project bids to determine the cost.
What does this mean for you?
A design/build approach offers an efficient way to steward your congregation’s resources, helping ensure transparent spending throughout the project.
