Proposed Golf, Tennis + Swim Clubhouses for Cleveland Country Club
From tee time to poolside - reimagining the clubhouse experience.
Upland Architects, Inc. was engaged to design two new facilities for Cleveland Country Club in Shelby, North Carolina: a new Golf Clubhouse and a new Tennis and Swim Clubhouse. Located within the City limits, Cleveland Country Club is home to an 18-hole golf course, a mix of clay and hard tennis courts, and a pool facility.
The proposed Golf Clubhouse was thoughtfully programmed to enhance the golfing experience with a welcoming main lobby, a golf shop with direct access to the course and parking, men's and women's locker rooms, indoor and outdoor dining spaces overlooking the back nine, a rooftop dining terrace, a 19th Hole pub, wine bar, cigar lounge, theater room, bag storage, and lower-level cart storage accommodating up to 72 carts.
The proposed Tennis and Swim Clubhouse supported the club’s active racquet and aquatics programs, featuring a pool check-in lobby, changing rooms, fitness center, yoga room, massage suite, tennis pro shop and office, teen center, rooftop bar, and a family-friendly pool complex with swim lanes, diving area, kiddie splash zones, and outdoor recreation areas.
Although the project did not move forward, the designs reflected a strong understanding of the club’s golf, tennis, and swim operations and the creation of modern spaces for members to enjoy.
