Upland Architects is proud to partner with Temescal Wellness on the redesign of their medical and recreational cannabis dispensary located at 665 Cochituate Road in Framingham, Massachusetts. As the Architect of Record, our role was to help bring to life a welcoming, compliant, and brand-aligned facility that supports Temescal’s commitment to wellness, education, and plant-based healing.
Temescal Wellness, known as The Life Cannabis Company, offers high-quality products with a deep focus on personal guidance and education. Rooted in the founder's personal journey and named after the traditional Mesoamerican sweat lodges that symbolize restoration and healing, the company’s mission is to improve everyday lives through safe and consistent access to cannabis. The Framingham location represents this mission in action—serving clients in a modern, approachable, and professional environment.
The approach.
The project was thoughtfully executed in two distinct phases to align with Temescal Wellness’s growth strategy and evolving operational needs. Phase one focused on the complete reconstruction of the exterior façade, transforming a dated and uninviting storefront into a bold new presence that reflects the future of the brand. The original building lacked any connection to Temescal’s identity or mission, so the design aimed to establish instant brand recognition while creating a vibrant and welcoming environment. This transformation not only elevated the visual identity of the site but also improved the functionality of the entry sequence—ensuring a secure and intuitive path for both entering and exiting the facility.
Phase two, currently on hold, proposes a full interior renovation to unify two existing tenant spaces into a single expansive dispensary. This interior fit-out will bring the brand experience to life through an open, educational, and efficient layout. The proposed design includes twelve point-of-sale stations, designated pick-up zones, secure storage, consultation rooms, educational displays, and immersive retail merchandising areas—all carefully curated to enhance customer flow, support staff operations, and express Temescal’s commitment to accessible, plant-based wellness.
